Dancing on the Ground of the Sun

Where ancient traditions meet contemporary creativity, where art is a way of life, and where every sunset seems determined to outshine the one before. Welcome to Santa Fe, New Mexico—The City Different!

The challenge sounded simple enough: We had just three days to dazzle a group of incentive winners with diverse interests, different tastes, and high expectations.

The destination? Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The challenge? Making sure everyone experienced something extraordinary.

The result? Three unforgettable days in a city that seems to have mastered the art of surprising even the most seasoned travelers.

And frankly, Santa Fe made our job a whole lot easier!

Nestled at the foothills of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Santa Fe is anything but ordinary. Recognized as one of America's most historic cities, this enchanting destination blends more than 400 years of history with a vibrant contemporary spirit, world-class art, extraordinary cuisine, spectacular landscapes, and a fascinating multicultural heritage.

Here, centuries-old adobe buildings stand alongside cutting-edge art galleries. Ancient traditions coexist with bold culinary innovation. And just minutes from the historic downtown, the great outdoors beckons with breathtaking mountain trails and landscapes that seem to stretch forever.

Small enough to feel intimate yet sophisticated enough to rival the world's great cultural destinations, Santa Fe offers something incentive planners dream about: an extraordinary variety of experiences wrapped into one wonderfully accessible destination.

We had three days. We intended to make every moment count!

DAY ONE: A JOURNEY THROUGH FOUR CENTURIES OF MAGIC

History, Culture and a Taste of the Southwest

What better way to introduce our guests to Santa Fe than by taking them on a journey through time?

Our first day was dedicated to discovering the fascinating history, colorful traditions, and multicultural influences that have shaped this remarkable city.

As the oldest state capital in the United States, Santa Fe has witnessed centuries of transformation. Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo-American influences have all left their unmistakable imprint, creating a cultural tapestry unlike anywhere else in the country.

And what a magnificent setting for it all!

To the east, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains rise dramatically above the city. To the west, the Jemez Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop for sunsets that paint the sky in brilliant shades of orange, crimson, and gold.

It's little wonder Santa Fe has attracted generations of artists, writers, chefs, and creative spirits seeking inspiration.

Our mission for the morning? Bring this extraordinary history to life.

We began at the historic Santa Fe Plaza, the beating heart of the city for more than four centuries. Surrounded by adobe architecture, charming boutiques, galleries, and historic landmarks, the Plaza immediately immersed our group in Santa Fe's unmistakable character.

From there, we explored the Palace of the Governors, one of America's most historically significant public buildings, before continuing to the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.

Another highlight was the enchanting Loretto Chapel, home to its legendary spiral staircase—an architectural marvel that has fascinated visitors for generations.

By lunchtime, our guests had already discovered that Santa Fe isn't simply a place to visit. It's a place to experience, absorb, and remember.

The afternoon took us to Museum Hill, a cultural treasure trove where art, history, and traditions from the American Southwest and beyond come together.

With several outstanding museums within easy reach of one another, our guests had the freedom to explore according to their own interests. For some, it was Native American art and heritage. For others, international folk art, fascinating historical exhibits, or simply the pleasure of discovering something completely unexpected.

And then came one of Santa Fe's greatest attractions.

The food!

Dinner was at The Shed, a beloved Santa Fe institution housed in a historic hacienda dating back to the late 17th century.

Here, our guests discovered that New Mexican cuisine isn't merely about eating. It's practically a cultural experience!

Famous for its intensely flavorful red chile and legendary enchiladas, The Shed provided the perfect introduction to the bold flavors of the Southwest.

And for those wondering whether to order red or green chile, the answer was simple: Christmas! A delicious combination of both.

But the evening was far from over.

We sent our adventurous guests off to discover the celebrated Santa Fe Margarita Trail, a spirited journey through local restaurants and watering holes, each offering its own creative interpretation of the classic margarita.

What began as an evening stroll quickly became a delightful exploration of local flavors, lively conversations, and Santa Fe's wonderfully relaxed nightlife.

Not a bad way to wrap up Day One!

DAY TWO: WHERE CREATIVITY KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES

Art, Imagination & a Few Wonderful Surprises

If Day One was about discovering Santa Fe's past, Day Two was all about experiencing its extraordinary creative spirit.

And in Santa Fe, creativity isn't confined to museums.

It's everywhere!

We began our morning on legendary Canyon Road, one of America's most celebrated art destinations.

Imagine strolling along a picturesque street lined with centuries-old adobe buildings, beautifully landscaped courtyards, intriguing sculptures, and galleries showcasing everything from traditional Southwestern masterpieces to daring contemporary works.

With more than a hundred galleries, boutiques, and studios in the surrounding area, Canyon Road is a paradise for art enthusiasts.

But even those who don't consider themselves art lovers couldn't help being captivated by the setting.

The architecture, the colors, the gardens, the mountain air—it all comes together in a wonderfully atmospheric experience.

Following a casual lunch, we changed gears and headed to the Santa Fe Railyard.

Once an industrial transportation hub, this revitalized district has become one of the city's most exciting gathering places.

Here, contemporary art, independent businesses, local food, and community life intersect in an energetic urban setting.

Our guests explored the surrounding Railyard Arts District, discovered the innovative exhibitions at SITE Santa Fe, and enjoyed the lively atmosphere around local favorites such as Nuckolls Brewing Co. and the celebrated Santa Fe Farmers' Market.

It was a completely different side of Santa Fe—and another reminder of why the city wears its nickname, The City Different, so proudly.

But we had saved something truly extraordinary for later.

An experience that would take our guests into another dimension!

Welcome to Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return.

How do you describe a place where art, fantasy, mystery, and interactive storytelling collide?

You really can't.

You have to experience it!

Behind an ordinary-looking house lies an astonishing world of secret passages, surreal environments, hidden rooms, and mind-bending artistic installations.

One moment you're wandering through a seemingly normal home. The next, you're stepping through a refrigerator into an entirely different universe!

Our guests were free to explore, interact, and lose themselves in a creative adventure that challenged their imaginations at every turn.

For a group accustomed to conventional sightseeing, this was anything but conventional.

And that was precisely the point!

As evening approached, we returned to the historic Plaza, now buzzing with the unmistakable energy of Santa Fe after dark.

Local artisans, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and the occasional strains of live music created the perfect atmosphere for a leisurely stroll and a little people-watching.

Then it was time for dinner.

And what better place to celebrate another memorable day than above the rooftops of downtown Santa Fe?

Our destination was the Coyote Cafe & Rooftop Cantina, one of the city's favorite gathering spots.

Perched above the celebrated Coyote Cafe, the Cantina combines bold Southwestern flavors, creative cocktails, and an irresistibly casual atmosphere.

But the real star of the evening was Mother Nature herself.

As our guests relaxed over dinner and cocktails, the setting sun began transforming the surrounding adobe buildings into a glowing canvas of gold, amber, and fiery red.

The mountains faded into silhouette. The evening air cooled. The city lights slowly came alive.

It was one of those magical moments when conversation pauses, cameras come out, and everyone realizes they're experiencing something special.

Another perfect day in The City Different!

DAY THREE: ANSWERING THE CALL OF THE WILD

Mountain Trails, Ancient Civilizations & a Grand Finale

After two days immersed in Santa Fe's history, culture, art, and culinary delights, it was time to trade city streets for wide-open spaces.

And what magnificent spaces they are!

Our final day began with a refreshing outdoor adventure along the Dale Ball Trails, a spectacular network of hiking paths just minutes from downtown.

With the Sangre de Cristo Mountains providing a breathtaking backdrop, our guests discovered an entirely different perspective of Santa Fe.

Here, the pace slowed, the air seemed fresher, and the natural beauty of northern New Mexico took center stage.

Whether enjoying a leisurely walk or tackling a more energetic trail, participants had an opportunity to reconnect with nature, enjoy the company of fellow travelers, and appreciate the extraordinary landscape surrounding the city.

For those who had spent the previous two days exploring galleries and historic landmarks, it was a welcome change of scenery.

And we were only getting started!

Following lunch, we ventured beyond Santa Fe to one of New Mexico's most remarkable archaeological treasures.

Bandelier National Monument.

Now this was something special!

Imagine a landscape of dramatic canyons, rugged cliffs, ancient dwellings, and centuries of human history etched into the volcanic rock.

Bandelier offers visitors an extraordinary glimpse into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who inhabited this region hundreds of years ago.

As our group explored the canyon trails and ancient sites, the experience became far more than another sightseeing excursion.

It was a journey into the distant past, surrounded by some of the Southwest's most striking natural scenery.

For many of our guests, this was the unexpected highlight of the entire program.

And isn't that what great incentive travel is all about?

Creating experiences people never expected—and memories they'll never forget.

After a day filled with fresh mountain air, fascinating discoveries, and breathtaking scenery, it was time to return to Santa Fe for one final celebration.

And we intended to finish in style!

Our farewell dinner was hosted at the acclaimed Compound Restaurant, one of Santa Fe's most celebrated dining establishments.

Renowned for its sophisticated cuisine, elegant surroundings, and James Beard Award-winning culinary pedigree, The Compound provided the ideal setting for a memorable finale.

Over an exceptional dinner, conversations turned to the experiences of the past three days.

The magnificent sunsets. The fascinating history. The extraordinary art. The unforgettable food. The mountain adventures. And, of course, the friendships and shared memories created along the way.

There was plenty to talk about.

And more than a few promises to return.

THREE DAYS. A THOUSAND MEMORIES. ONE EXTRAORDINARY DESTINATION.

When we first accepted the challenge of creating a three-day incentive program in Santa Fe, we knew we had chosen a destination with enormous potential.

What we discovered was something even better.

Santa Fe doesn't simply accommodate different interests. It celebrates them.

For history lovers, there are centuries of fascinating stories waiting to be uncovered.

For art enthusiasts, creativity seems to spill out onto every street.

For food lovers, the culinary scene is a delicious adventure in itself.

For outdoor enthusiasts, spectacular landscapes and endless opportunities for discovery begin just minutes from downtown.

And for incentive planners?

Santa Fe offers that elusive combination of authenticity, diversity, accessibility, and unforgettable experiences that transform a good program into an extraordinary one.

Our guests arrived as a group of individuals with different interests and expectations.

They departed with something they all shared.

Three remarkable days. Countless unforgettable moments. And a newfound love for The City Different.
